Makerere University
In Phase 2, the Crisis States programme will be working with Dr
Golooba Mutebi from Makerere University in Uganda. Dr Mutebi will also be
collaborating with researchers in Kigali, Rwanda.
Makerere is the premier institution of learning in Uganda and ranks as one of
the largest in East and Central Africa. Initially affiliated to University
College London, it became independent in 1970 and now offers a wide range of
courses to over 30,000 students. It is an active centre for research
and the Crisis States Programme is working with the Makerere Institute for
Social Research (MISR) - an autonomous institute of the university dedicated to
creating dialogue between scientists, local communities and policy
makers.
