LSE CSRC-ISA International Workshop
Thursday 26 & Friday 27 May 2005
The Crisis States Research Centre and the Institute for the Study of the Americas are cohosting an international workshop
on Youth Violence in Latin America. This will take place on the 26 and 27 May 2005, in the Old Theatre (London School of Economics)
and the Chancellor's Hall (Senate House, University of London). The event has been convened by Gareth A. Jones (Geography, LSE)
Dennis Rodgers (Crisis States Research Centre, LSE).
The workshop has been sponsored by the Alistair Berkley
Memorial Fund, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the British Academy, the
Society for Latin American Studies and the Crisis States Research Centre.
As part of this event, Paolo Sérgio Pinheiro (UN independent expert on violence against children) has been invited to give the 2005
Alistair Berkley Memorial
Lecture,
on the subject of Youth Violence and Social Justice in Latin America. This will take place on the 26th May at 6pm in LSE's Old Theatre.
Dr Caroline Moser (Brookings
Institution) will be the respondent for Dr Pinheiro's talk.
A photographic exhibition
has also been organised to coincide with the Workshop: Hijos del Destino: Images of Youth Violence in Latin America, by Donna de Cesare
