Governance and Social Development Resource Centre (GSDRC) publishes new online topic guide on Fragile States
Over the past 5 years, so-called 'fragile states' and how best to engage
with them have emerged as a key priority in the international development
community. This guide, written by GSDRC in collaboration with CSRC
associates, introduces some of the best academic and practitioner literature
on the causes, characteristics and impact of state fragility and the
challenges and dilemmas of aid delivery in fragile contexts. It highlights
the critical, ongoing and often unresolved debates within the international
development and academic communities in relation to understanding and
responding to fragile situations, with sections on aid effectiveness,
state-building and service delivery. The guide is intended as a reference
point for policymakers and will be updated regularly with new publications
and emerging issues.http://www.gsdrc.org/go/topic-guides/fragile-states
